Endovascular procedures gain an ever increasing importance in the treatment of arterial lesions. The course is intended as a four modules course.
1st module (October 16th, Ramada Hotel, Sibiu, România):
Getting familiar with the materials used in endovascular procedures
2nd module (November 21st, Pius Brânzeu Center of Laparoscopic Surgery and Microsurgery, Timișoara, România):
Endovascular Below the Knee
3rd module (January 23rd, Pius Brânzeu Center of Laparoscopic Surgery and Microsurgery, Timișoara, România):
Endovascular Superficial Femoral Arteries and Iliac Arteries
4th module (February 13th, Pius Brânzeu Center of Laparoscopic Surgery and Microsurgery, Timișoara, România):
Hands on
The first module offers the participants the opportunity to get familiar with the materials (sheaths, wires, catheters, balloons, stents) used for endovascular intervention.
OBJECTIVES:
- To review the various techniques and discuss the advantages and limitations of diagnostic and interventional procedures in treating peripheral vascular disease.
- Focus on techniques and use of materials with an update on the latest treatment options.
AUDIENCE:
The program is designed for vascular surgeons who are commencing minimal invasive peripheral interventions, to share their experiences, to review the evidence and discuss best clinical practices.

TOPICS COVERED
- Literature overview of peripheral interventions and indications, complications and management, decision making process on angioplasty /stenting (focus on legs)
- Discussions on endovascular treatment options – build an interventional strategy, decision making process
- Hands-on sessions for all participants (on materials) on simple table top models

09.15 – 10.30 - Indications for endovascular treatment (TASC Guidelines). Literature overview on PTA/stenting
10.30 – 10.45 - Coffee Break
10.45 – 12.00 - Overview of materials and devices used during endovascular procedures. Angioplasty techniques and technology – wires, balloons, stents and others
12.00 – 12.45 - Lunch
12.45 – 13.45 - Procedure steps from puncture/access to closure
13.45 – 15.15 - How to build diagnostic and Interventional Treatment Strategy for a patient with peripheral vascular disease? Decision making process: build an endovascular strategy through clinical cases. Overview of different strategies for different lesions & locations. Clinical cases to clarify procedure techniques & strategies
15.15 – 15.30 - Coffee Break
15.30 – 17.00 - Complications: Prevention & Treatment of complications
17.00 - 17.30 - Introduction to equipment used for interventional procedure. Radiation protection basics
17.30 – 17.45 - Conclusions
17.45 – 18.00 - Evaluations & Adjourn
